What is the Bed Race?

The Bed Race is a fundraising event consisting of teams of six people who will push a handmade bed on wheels in front of The Jacksonville Landing in downtown Jacksonville. The goal is to be the fastest Bed Race team and to raise the most funds to support City Rescue Mission. Our goal is to raise $50,000 this year.

When I first came here to CRM, I couldn’t stand the strict rules, daily schedules and scheduled lunches. I thought to myself “this place isn’t going to help with my drug addictions, all they teach here is God, God, God. It will just kill me if I have to stay here for 3 months, let alone 1½ years!” I was right! It did kill me…the old, pitiful me, now I’m being formed into a new person. A person with boundaries, morals, lots of love to give, unselfishness, self-discipline, friends (real friends) and best of all, God, God and God! CRM’s staff is awesome, they line up activities such as beach parties, sleepovers, trips to the zoo and all kinds of stuff that teach us how to have fun without doing drugs. CRM teaches us to put God first and everything in life will work out. It may not always work out the way you want it but the way God wants it, which will always be better than any plan that we can make for ourselves. CRM is considered my family, I love everyone here, and now I think that when I hit my 1½ year mark they may have to kick me out because I don’t think I’ll want to leave. Thanks CRM!

Where is the golf tournament?

The golf tournament will be played on the same course as some of America’s most well-known golfers, Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh. The TPC Stadium is known for its perfectly manicured greens and beautiful vistas of the natural beauty in northeast Florida.

This place is the 23rd Psalm in action. Truly an expression of God’s unconditional love, His grace and mercy. The is the sweetest blessing to experience after all the hell I’ve been through as a child and in turn created the same chaos in my adult life. God has placed people here to help with and to allow God to heal the inner child in me. There is wisdom in my counselors . I am a promise in progress – God heals the broken and contrite. Without Him, I couldn’t hold up. Thank you for the mission – God’s House P.S. I’ve been rescued

Being at CRM has given my life meaning. Today I know that I am special and truly loved. Today I know that I’m not in control of my life. It wasn’t me that got me here. It was the Lord my God. I have understanding to things I never knew. I’ve become stronger. I know that I’m special in each and every way. I know that God has special plans for me. Being at CRM has allowed me to get closer and to know more about my Father. I’ve been able to deal with issues that I never dealt with. Here in this safe environment I am able to look at my past so that I might heal and recover from my wounds and pains. God is working through this place. These people and these women and men that reside here. CRM has given us hope. They have helped with my faith and what I believe. I love that I am here getting help and being loved. I’m on the road to recovery. I’m on the road to my victory and my calling. God brought me here to give me sight, He brought me here for my purpose in life that’s to know Him, love Him and walk like Him. To go out and to help whose who are lost like I was.

Hey, my name is Rhonda and I would like to tell you that the City Rescue Mission has helped me get off drugs. And I have come back to the Lord. Through God, the mission is also helping me to be back with my son and also to help me further my education and learn to deal with life’s problems without using drugs. The mission has helped me to gather with my Christian sisters’ to overcome anything that is not of God. In Jesus name. Amen

My name is Ashlee.  I want to give this time to say thank you for all that you do and for giving us a peace that passes all understanding. Lord I pray that you would watch over all family’s. Lord I love you and thank you God.

Love, Ashlee
I am sitting here knowing I had grown up in Church. As I was getting older I walked away from my faith. Presently now at City Rescue Mission, I am learning physical, mental and emotional strengths. Every day I learn “he’s food for the soul.”  I digest his words morning, noon and night. I am so appreciative that he’s my Father in Christ. I am spiritually grateful for His love. Jesus loves us. Jesus imagined his children. He infinitely loves us, made us, created us as an image of Him. He has replaced my addiction. Now I smile every day. I am peaceful in every way. Now that City Rescue Mission taught me about ‘the Life of Christ’, now I can say “I am not afraid”. Amen.

I am at peace. Thank you. I am thankful for CRM. It has the best people working here. They really seem to understand where we come from, because most of them have been through it. Being here is a very safe place. It has a lot of structure and God plays a big part. 99.9% has to do with our relationship with God. Getting close to Him again. I have been so far away. I’m glad I’m back on the right road. (God’s road). For me I am thankful for being here and I do believe that everything happens for a reason. And that’s why I’m here. Thanks, God Bless All.

I want to thank you CRM for saving my life! I had friends that were trying to get me checked into a long-term treatment program down south. Before the answer came I starting using again. For one week I was on the streets. I came to CRM on a Sunday and was graciously let into the program on Wednesday. I reached out for God in desperation and He answered me. The women here are tough when necessary and loving when necessary. I have been here for one month and I haven’t used or smoked. I have been in AA/NA since I was 23 and am 45 and I have hope again. I lost everything from my addictions (besides my life) and now I pray that all is restored. Again I say thank you and I want you to know how truly grateful I am.

How do I make a bed on wheels?

The Bed Building Guidelines and Instructions will guide you on how to build your team’s bed. Have fun and be creative! Don’t forget about this year’s theme - “Fairy Tales Do Come True.”

I thank God each and every day for the City Rescue Mission. I was living on the streets in abandoned houses and doing what I had to do to survive before God sent me to CRM. I had all of this unbearable pain inside of me and I did not know how to deal with it. I was not until I was alone with nothing that I turned to God. When I finally surrendered to God and let Jesus in my heart, I began to receive so many blessings in my life. He has healed my pain and restored what was lost to me. I have given my life to God and now He uses me for His good purposes. I will be forever grateful to Him above.
